Protecting Hornsea Town FC’s Only Community Football Facility Through Capital Funding

Over a 14-month period, I supported Hornsea Town Football Club through a complex capital funding programme to secure the future of its only community football facility.

The project involved coordinating multiple funding streams to ensure the full scope of works remained viable, while maintaining alignment with funders and project partners throughout delivery.

As the funding picture evolved, I worked with the club to reassess the strategy, secure additional funding, and keep momentum across all parties to ensure the project could move forward.

Outcome

  • Four funding streams secured to support delivery
  • Funding strategy realigned to maintain project viability
  • Project progressed into the build phase following resolution of funding gaps

Impact

Hornsea Town Football Club is a key community asset, providing a home for senior, veterans’, and junior football. Securing this funding helped protect the town’s only football facility, ensuring it can continue to support local participation, volunteering, and grassroots sport.

Delivery Funding Support for a Community CIC

have supported a Hull-based community CIC to secure ongoing funding to maintain and extend its delivery of community activities.

The challenge

The organisation initially needed funding to maintain delivery over the winter period, when its allotment-based activities pause due to weather conditions. This developed into an ongoing need to secure multiple funding streams to sustain activity beyond the initial period.

Key challenges included:

  • Limited capacity to develop funding applications internally
  • Need to secure aligned funding across multiple opportunities
  • Maintaining continuity of provision for local residents

My role

  • Identified suitable funding opportunities aligned to organisational priorities
  • Supported the development of multiple funding applications
  • Helped shape clear, evidence-based funding narratives
  • Ensured applications reflected need, context, and delivery model
  • Provided ongoing support across deadlines and funder requirements

The outcome

  • Five funding applications successfully awarded
  • Funding secured to sustain and extend delivery
  • Continuity of provision maintained across multiple funding cycles

Community impact

The funding enabled continued community-led activities supporting residents experiencing isolation and social pressures, helping people remain connected and maintain positive routines.
